Job Title: Respiratory Lead Therapist

Reports To: Facility Administrator
Exempt Status: Non-exempt
Function: The licensed Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the daily operations and staffing of the respiratory department, adhering to state guidelines, providing direct support to RT staff, assuring that all policy and procedures are being followed, and assist the facility staff with respiratory related procedures. This position is for a Day or Night Shift Respiratory Therapy Lead in Logansport, Indiana at Camelot Care Center.
Qualifications:
1. Must be licensed in the state of Indiana as a Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist
2. One year of clinical experience preferred.
3. Must complete an application for employment, provide reference checks and complete all other new hire paperwork.
4. Must show knowledge and understanding of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
5. Be able to work in a team environment and motivate others.
6. Must complete a physical exam and Mantoux test as required by states regulations.
7. Freedom from illegal use of drugs, and freedom from use of, and effects of, drugs or alcohol in the workplace.
8. Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment.
9. Must show strong organizational and analytical, oral and written communication skills.
10. Demonstrate ability in independent functioning and strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensures the quality of resident care meets or exceeds standards of practice, while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
2. Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting to change of residents’ needs.
3. Assures the completion of all new hire paperwork for all RT staff.
4. Keeps records of all Mantoux test and competencies for RT staff and see that all are up to date
5. Complete work schedule and daily assignments for RT staff
6. Assist with employee call-ins and finding replacements as needed to provide resident care.
7. Be knowledgeable of fire and emergency procedures, demonstrating good safety techniques when giving care and handling equipment.
8. Observe facility infection control procedures.
9. Demonstrate excellent leadership abilities, evaluate and recognize priorities, keep current on information, and foster high performance, recognize a need for and provide adequate resources.
10. Counsel staff as needed to assure good team work and quality care
11. Inform Administrator of all facility concerns, and compliance issues.
12. Always perform duties within the Scope of Practice Guidelines for the Respiratory Therapist
13. Responsible for respiratory auditing and maintaining proper orders in the electronic medical record.
14. This position is full time and will require and on-call rotation.
Physical Demands:
The Respiratory Therapist must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job. The employee must be able to stand for long periods, stoop, kneel, climb, balance and reach. At times the employee will be required to lift or pull moderate to heavy weight. The employee must be able to use the sense of smell, hearing and sight to adequately monitor resident changes. The employee will occasionally be exposed to blood or other body fluids, and must handle the situation appropriately. The noise level of the work environment is moderate.
