Indiana Fitness Works Inc. is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to work in our Long-Term Care Facility in Alexandria, Indiana at Alexandria Care Center. Requirements for a Physical Therapy Assistant:

  • Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. The program must be accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Display evidence of interest in continuing education within the profession.
Typical Physical Demands: 
  • Assistant assigned must be able to perform the following physical job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Lift up to 10lbs overhead occasionally
  • Lift up to 50lbs from floor to knuckle occasionally
  • Lift up to 25lbs from knuckle to shoulder occasionally
  • Pivot transfer up to 150lbs occasionally
  • Carry up to 50lbs, 200ft frequently
  • Push/pull 75lbs, 100ft frequently
  • Fine hand manipulation, bilaterally continuously
  • Heavy grasp, bilaterally frequently
  • Visually acuity connect to 20/20
  • Tactile discrimination
  • Stand up to 2 hours frequently
  • Comprehensible verbal communication skills continuously
  • Legible written communication continuously
  • Squat, stoop, or kneel up to 15 minutes occasionally
  • Sit up to 2 hours occasionally
Typical Working Conditions: 
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations.
Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
  • Conduct Treatment plans as established by PT under supervision of PT
  • Communicate with PT, Rehab team members and/or referring physician regarding patients treatment program
  • Maintain weekly (objective) progress notes, following documentation guidelines
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records
  • Complete daily time logs, modality sheets, Medicare logs, change slips and any other required paperwork.
  • Supervise supportive staff in clerical and transporting duties as assigned
  • Must follow all established policies and procedures of the company
  • Communicate the Physical Therapist's designed plan of care to physician. The assistant will also take a telephone order from the physician to certify that plan of care or change the plan of care. The telephone order will then be co-signed by the supervising therapist.
